Automobiles in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were notified by a man who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then located many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police report initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.

An important representative commented the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
