Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Fans can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
